Hope for the Needy Zambia (HONZA) is a child centered non-profit making, non-governmental organization with integrated youth and young women programs,legally registered on 13th September, 2010, with registration number: 86921 under PACRA as limited by guarantee. We have a well-established and committed Board of directors which is elected every after two years at the Annual general meeting (AGM).

HONZA reflects the organizations founding story, where local Social workers mobilized the community to respond to the devastating local impact of HIV and child Neglect in Nchelenge district through a Humanitarian program called Help the Needy (natwafwe abalanda (Bemba words) meaning “let’s help the vulnerable”) which received overwhelming government support and cooperate social responsibility and were our 220 community volunteers collected donated  material support such as pupils books, uniforms, clothes, Assorted food stuffs among others, from well-wishers then in return donated them to Vulnerable Children, people with special needs and the aged. The local radio station (Radio Luapula) supported us with 5 Months free air over the same program where we could invite different stakeholders to discuss child rights among other HIV related matters, not until the organisation was established in 2010.

 Our Mission is to develop an all-inclusive and participatory in sustainable development by promoting community involvement in realising its full potential, by educating, protecting, empowering, supporting and transforming of most Vulnerable Children, Youths and Young women lives through developing an enabling environment resilient to any form of Abuse, HIV/TB, GBV, Illiteracy, Poverty, inequality and Climate Change.

  • To advocate for gender equity through provision ofadolescent mothers with a Second Chance to school
  • To Improve Nutritional status of children, youths and adolescent mothers in rural communities
  • To participate in mitigating the impact of climate change on environment.
    • To facilitate information exchange and dissemination on ECCDE, Gender, Gender Based Violence (GBV), Child rights, HIV/AIDS crisis, Sexual and reproductive Healthand climate change
